How do we review Backup Strategy?
The engagement follows a structured methodology in four phases.
Inventory and Policy Review
We map your complete data landscape: systems, databases, file stores, SaaS applications, and their criticality. We review existing backup policies, retention schedules, RPO/RTO commitments, and regulatory requirements. We inventory backup tools, storage targets, and replication architecture.
Technical Assessment
We evaluate your backup infrastructure across critical dimensions: coverage completeness (are all critical systems backed up?), backup isolation and immutability (protection against ransomware), encryption of backup data in transit and at rest, cross-region and cross-account replication, retention policy alignment with regulatory and business requirements, backup access controls and privilege management, and SaaS data protection (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, etc.).
Recovery Testing and Validation
We conduct or review restoration tests for critical systems to validate actual recovery capability. We measure real RPO/RTO against stated objectives, identify recovery procedure gaps, and assess the team's operational readiness for disaster recovery scenarios.
Recommendations and Roadmap
We deliver a prioritised remediation plan addressing coverage gaps, isolation weaknesses, and recovery procedure improvements. Each recommendation includes implementation guidance and effort estimate. The final report is presented to stakeholders and delivered via secure channel.
